Frequently Asked Questions

You can help spread the word about our organization, both on social media and with members of your community. Additionally, you can make an impact by volunteering at our events, or make a tax-deductible monetary contribution to help keep our efforts running smoothly.

Every year PacksforColdBacks distributes backpacks to those experiencing homelessness throughout the Sacramento, Phoenix, and Seattle areas. In addition to providing essential goods to those in need, we have expanded to providing rehabilitation and navigation services to overcome homelessness through housing placement & rental assistance, guidance, and support.

Each backpack includes items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, razor, beanie, two pairs of socks, gloves, poncho, fleece blanket, hand warmers, other seasonal items, and approximately a week worth of food. In summers we also include refillable water bottles, flip flops, sunglasses, sunscreen, baseball cap and two wash clothes. We also include sanitary products for homeless women and pet food for those with companions.

100% of our donations go directly to supporting our mission, purchasing goods, and funding the events. In September of 2022, we hired one company employee that receives monetary compensation on a part-time, as needed basis to accomplish our business development, program development, administrative, follow-up navigation services, and back-end duties, at a rate not to exceed 25% of our annual funding. No other employees, board member, or volunteer receives monetary nor non-monetary compensation of any kind. All monetary donations are tax deductible in accordance with IRS rules and regulations regarding donations to a 501(c)3 non-profit.
